Our Vivid echocardiography product line helps diagnose over 300,000 patients daily.
We are seeking an Acoustic Engineer to join our Acoustic Lab team. This role involves conducting measurements of acoustic and temperature output of our ultrasound probes and enhancing the accuracy of physical and mathematical models to align more closely with experimental measurements. The ideal candidate will be a skilled experimentalist with experience in scripting languages such as Matlab and Python.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Conduct measurements of the accoustic and temperature output of ultrasound probes.
- Enhance the accuracy of physical and mathematical models of ultrasound acoustics to align more closely with experimental measurements.
- Analyze measurement data and generate comprehensive reports to support product development and regulatory submissions.
- Conduct research to explore new methodologies and technologies for improving acoustic measurement techniques.
- Synchronize with other Acoustic teams within GE HealthCare ultrasound to stay on top of industry advancements and best practices.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams, product managers, and clinical experts to integrate acoustic measurement findings into product development.
- Ensure all measurement activities comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements, including safety, maintenance, and calibration of equipment.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the lab.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Acoustics, Electrical Engineering, Medical Imaging, or a related discipline.
- Strong experimental skills and experience in conducting precise measurements.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Matlab and/or Python.
- Ability to work independently and manage repetitive tasks effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Understanding of quality assurance and compliance requirements in medical imaging.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with acoustic testing and ultrasound technology.
- Knowledge of temperature measurement techniques.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to improve mathematical models.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration and reporting.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for medical ultrasound imaging (FDA Guidance, IEC 60601-2-37, IEC 62359)
