As a Development Manager, you will shape and optimize processes, in addition to leading and nurturing your teams. We’re looking for a hands-on Development Manager who will advise and optimize our cloud-based technology that drives our products, ensuring it remains efficient, secure, and aligned with organizational goals. This position blends strategic planning with day-to-day operations, with a strong focus on software development. You will play a crucial role, collaborating closely with the VP of Engineering and the Development Manager team, to build a forward-thinking development organization. Qualifications
- Technical degree in computer science or a related field
- At least 4-5 years of experience in managerial or team leadership within software development
- Experience with software development, e.g. C++ or Rust
- Understanding and knowledge of secure coding practices, performance tuning, and building robust, resilient systems
- Comprehensive knowledge of cloud-based technology and infrastructure, involved in bringing cloud products to market
- Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies
- You are proactive, collaborative and thrive in creating solutions that support our organization alongside with your team
- Proven ability to inspire, mentor, and grow high-performing technical teams
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and a strong analytical approach to complex challenges

Responsibilities
- Shape our development organization together with the VP of Engineering and Development Manager team
- Serve as Line Manager for 2-3 teams with a focus on performance development, coaching, mentorship, and technical excellence
- Encourage and support Communities of Practice helping to spread knowledge and increase expertise
- Guiding the teams with business context, supporting them in navigating product domains and acquiring new expertise
- Help refine processes and metrics for greater impact and informed decision-making
- Influence and advice on policies for the Development department and Appear organization
- Create an environment in which teams deliver and improve, and cater for cross functional collaboration
- Identify challenges, cultivating a culture of creativity and continuous improvement
- Show flexibility and resilience in navigating change, combined with strong a technology- and customer-centric mindset to ensure development initiatives deliver meaningful business value
