Do you want to join our team as a Machinery Maintenance Expert?
We are looking for you who are somehow familiar with DNV and ship classification, and who wants to join us in one of Norway’s most attractive workplaces for engineers here at beautiful Høvik near Oslo, Norway.
Your new team will consist of around 20 highly skilled engineers from diverse cultures and generations, all working in the Machinery and Marpol section. Together, we cover exactly these two core topics for DNV. In a bigger picture, we are part of DNV Maritime Ship classification - Technical Support counting about 200 experts working in related fields.
In our daily work our section provides technical expertise within our disciplines to DNV’s fleet in service stakeholders - both internal and external. Typical tasks include damage and repair evaluations, rule interpretations, and the development of new services aligned with the DNV strategy.
For this specific position, you will strengthen a smaller team responsible for developing, maintaining and delivering data-driven digital alternatives to existing in-person machinery surveys for ship classification. You will expand your skills in ship machinery maintenance, condition-based maintenance, data-driven services, and understanding customer expectations.
As our first priority, you will be trained to deliver the digital machinery maintenance service to our customers through on-the-job training. As your experience grows, you will be contributing to develop and improve classification rule requirements, instructions and procedures and the existing digital services and tools.
Additionally, you will participate in our formalized technical help desk duty service, using your competence to respond to questions from internal and external customers.
Typical tasks will be:
Conduct digital audits: Dive into ship machinery maintenance data and perform digital audits to ensure fleet-wide compliance for ship managers
Support customers: Be the go-to expert on technical matters related to machinery maintenance and relevant processes and contribute to the technical machinery helpdesk
Manage projects: Maintain control over tasks and progress in the various smaller project
Innovate: Continue to develop our machinery services into the data-driven domain
Share knowledge: Provide valuable insights to the DNV organization and customers regarding machinery maintenance, through meetings and presentations - both internally and externally
Develop rules: Participate in the development of relevant rules and other service documents.

Competencies as listed below, in prioritized order, is beneficial:
Insights in ship maintenance and ship maintenance systems
In-field experience such as surveyor, chief engineer, super intendent, fleet manager, maintenance responsible, PMS software supplier, ISM auditor, or class surveyor is equally valuable as holding a higher university degree
Some knowledge of ship classification, rules and class systematics
Fluent language skills in English, and preferably Norwegian
