We have an exciting opportunity within GE Grid Solutions as Site Reliability Engineer.Site Reliability Engineer required for pivotal role in Oslo, Norway. The successful candidate will have SRE/DevOps skills and experience on public cloud solutions. If you have been in Utilities, Financial or Telecommunications environment, this will be highly desirable, but by no means essential.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Provision, configure and adapt the GridOS platform in line with our project responsibilities and commitments.
- Design, specify and configure cloud and on-premises infrastructure in our projects for our customers.
- Act as a trusted advisor in your team towards the customer for areas such as IT-infrastructure, networking, connectivity, security, scalability etc.
- Improve observability with metrics, logs, monitoring and alerts.
- Deployment and configuration management.
- Ensure an efficient development process by utilizing CI/CD tools and frameworks.
- Vulnerability management. Capacity planning and management.
- Responsible for the SRE on-call rotation, Incident response and postmortem analysis.
Qualifications - must
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/System Administration or similar technical field or equivalent work experience
- Experience in using SRE or DevOps methodologies
- Proven experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps, or similar role.
- Experience in running production services on container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes/Helm
- Experience in developing and deploying cloud-native applications.
- Experience in cloud and on-premises infrastructure with tools for infrastructure as code and configuration management
- Experience with source code control using Git and CI/CD tools like Concourse, FluxCD, ArgoCD
Qualifications - desired
Exposure to software engineering in one or more programming languages such as Java/Kotlin, JavaScript, Python, or Go, and familiarity with databases like PostgreSQL or Cassandra.
Interest in scripting and automation using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
Awareness of incident response processes and postmortem analysis.
Basic understanding of capacity planning principles.
Awareness within information security principles and willingness to follow procedures and security controls.
Interest in data privacy and protection practices.
Familiarity with at least one cloud platform such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
Strong willingness to learn, problem-solving mindset, and collaborative approach to troubleshooting
Personal characteristics:
Good communication skills and ability to explain SRE related subjects
Outgoing, service minded and customer focused
Large working capacity, cope with periods of high work pressure
This role involves work for customers who manage critical infrastructure; based on customer requirements it will be necessary to carry out background checks and suitability assessments as part of the hiring process.
