The Faculty of Technology, Art and Design (TKD) offers higher education and research and development (R&D) activities within technical subjects, arts and design. The Faculty has approximately 4.000 students and 400 staff members and is situated at Pilestredet Campus in downtown Oslo and at Kjeller Campus in Viken.
The Department of Built Environment offers bachelors and master’s degree programs in engineering, in addition to research and development activities. The department has approximately 60 staff members and 850 students.
The Department of Built Environment (https://www.oslomet.no/en/about/tkd/be) has a vacancy for a full-time 100% position as Assistant Professor. We seek a knowledgeable, innovative, and responsible individual who can contribute to teaching, research, and development work in building construction engineering, building materials, fundamentals of building professions and related subjects. The candidate will also collaborate with departmental groups to conduct interdisciplinary activities.
Your main duties and areas of responsibility will be to
- teach and supervise at bachelor and higher education levels
- actively contribute to the further development of high-quality education at the department
- promote partnerships with industry and other academic institutions
- communicate research results to both academic and public audiences.
- perform academic administrative tasks
- contribute actively to the development of the department and OsloMet as a whole
Qualification requirements
- master's degree in building construction engineering or closely related fields
- strong general competence in building engineering
- relevant professional and/or teaching experience
- written and oral proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, and English
- educational competence in accordance with OsloMet’s Guidelines for the assessment of educational competence at OsloMet
General criteria for appointment to teaching and research positions are set out in the Regulations to the University and College Act § 3-3.
Applicants who do not have adequate proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, shall be offered Norwegian courses, and must acquire Norwegian skills corresponding to at least level B2 within three years of appointment.
Emphasis will be placed on
- teaching and supervision experience, and pedagogical skills at the bachelor’s or master’s level. Ability to support and engage with students is important
- relevant professional experience and academic networks
- strong digital skills, including use of student-active learning methods and digital teaching and assessment tools

The position is remunerated in accordance with the Basic Collective Agreements (Hovedtariffavtalene) for state employees and OsloMet's salary policy in position code 1009 Assistant Professor with annual salary in the range NOK 604 900-759 100. A pension contribution of 2% is deducted. Higher salary may be considered for exceptionally qualified applicants.
