Since their start, Bislab has been challenging and transforming credit scoring and financial risk detection with intuitive decision-making tools in the Nordics. Now, they are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to help shape and scale the next generation of their backend platform.
This role is not just about writing code, it is about owning architecture, scaling systems, and driving technical direction. You will play a central part in building and evolving the core infrastructure behind Bislab’s high-impact products.
If you thrive in ownership roles, enjoy working close to code, and want to influence both how and what is to be built, then this one is for you!
🚀 What you will be doing
You will be a key driver of Bislab’s technical core, working hands on with a modern stack to ensure the platform remains fast, secure, and scalable as it grows.
This is a hands-on role where you will go deep in the codebase, shape architectural decisions, and work closely with the team across product, data science, and leadership.
Your Mission:
- Lead architectural decisions and improve how we scale and structure our backend systems.
- Design and develop robust, secure, and high-performing APIs and data pipelines.
- Identify and implement improvements in system reliability, observability, and performance.
- Be a technical sparring partner across teams while challenging ideas and sharing best practices.
- Collaborate closely with product management, data & frontend engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Own critical parts of our technical stack and influence what we build and how we build it.
🎯 Who are we looking for?
This is a role for someone who combines strategic thinking with strong technical execution. You enjoy building real things in fast-moving environments and want your work to have a true impact.
We think you will thrive here if you:
- Have solid experience with C#, .NET, Azure, and SQL.
- Are comfortable working across different types of databases, whether relational, document-based, or graph models.
- Understand how systems talk to each other, from APIs to data pipelines, and how to design reliable, secure data flows.
- Know when to move fast and when to slow down to ensure stability and security. You build with intent, not just speed.
- Take ownership, move quickly, and enjoy working in cross-functional teams
- Are motivated by building technology that businesses rely on to make high-stakes financial decisions every day.
You do not need to have “Principal Software Engineer” on your CV already, but you should think and operate like one.
💡 Why Bislab?
Bislab is not a giant corporation with layers of management. And they are not early-stage chaos either. They are a fast-growing, profitable scale-up with real customers, real revenue, and a team that takes engineering seriously.
They are building advanced API-based tools for credit scoring and financial risk detection used by companies that make major decisions every day. You will get to work with real data, critical infrastructure, and high-impact products.
At Bislab, you will get:
- Ownership from day one – and the trust to shape how we build.
- A tight-knit, senior team with zero tolerance for fluff or busywork.
- Real engineering challenges in a data-rich domain.
- The opportunity to work end-to-end, from concept to production.
- An office in the heart of Oslo – and the space to focus while you’re there.
- A culture where clarity beats process, and the best idea wins – whether it comes from an junior or the CEO.
You will work in small teams with short loops between idea and execution. Engineers talk directly with product, leadership, and even customers when needed. There is no hand-off culture here. You will be involved early, and your input will shape what we build.
If you see something broken, we expect you to speak up. If you see a better way, we want you to lead it. This is not a place to hide, but it is a great place to build.
👋 Curious?
No need to write a novel. Send us a CV, LinkedIn profile, or something you have built that you are proud of.
