SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
Jotun are looking for an R&D Chemist and an R&D Technician.Both positions are temporary, 1 year.
R&D Chemist:

A temporary position is available for an R&D Chemist in Fouling Protection R&D. Candidates should hold a Master’s degree or PhD in chemistry, preferably with expertise in areas such as polymers, organic chemistry, silicone chemistry, or closely related fields.
Fouling Protection R&D focuses on developing coatings designed to protect underwater surfaces from marine fouling. Such coatings can assist the maritime industry in reducing CO2 emissions by up to 19%. Additionally, these protective coatings help limit the transfer of aquatic invasive species in the marine environment.
Participate in projects and collaborate with chemists and technicians to plan and initiate formulation development, laboratory-scale paint production, and testing of wet and dry/cured paint, including spray application. Experience in experimental design, statistical evaluation of results, and soft modelling is beneficial. Present work results both orally and in writing to support decision-making based on test outcomes.
Adherence to HSEQ procedures, proper use of safety equipment and documentation, and attention to general safety are required when working in the laboratory. Maintaining daily order is expected to ensure the workspace remains tidy, safe, and organized.
R&D Technician advertising – Test department:
Assist on assigned R&D tasks in line with instructions and set procedures according to given responsibilities, to contribute to reaching the goals and plans of the department.
Carry out different laboratory tests, outdoor exposure testing and assist on application testing of Jotun- and competitor products.
Test method development work.
Report results continuously to ensure that relevant stakeholders are informed.
Ensure that necessary materials are available, and laboratory equipment are operational, to ensure an effective work environment.
Carry out other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and use of the necessary HSEQ procedures, safety equipment and safety documentation; and to take into consideration general safety.
Attend to the daily order so that the workspace is tidy, safe, and pleasant.
Qualifications:
Vocational Certificate, entry level.
Preferably proficient in verbal and written English.
