Storebrand aims to become data-driven, using data for decision-making, creating business opportunities, and delivering satisfying products and services.
For a company like Storebrand, which provides financial services across multiple verticals, we believe that distributed data ownership within the verticals is the right strategy for success. Therefore, a dedicated data team has recently been established for the banking and savings area in the private market, and we are now hiring a senior data expert to take on a tech lead role for this data team.
What will your workday look like?
In your role as data tech lead in the Banking and Savings data team, you will make sure we realize the potential in data across the Bank and Savings organization, including the Kron app. Your mission is to shape and guide the technical direction of our data platform, establish clear principles and best practices, and take ownership of the full data lifecycle to meet both current and future needs.
Working closely with data teams and developers, you will ensure that all data initiatives align with these principles, delivering scalable, high-quality, and reliable solutions. You will do this through strong data architecture, well-defined standards, and hands-on technical leadership — covering everything from source to insight.
Your responsibilities will include:
Identify, understand and integrate relevant data sources (APIs, databases, and event streams)
Design and implement data pipelines and models
Define and own data architecture and development standards
Establish SLAs and KPIs to ensure data quality and availability
Manage data access and governance within the bank
Ensure data quality, reliability and consistency
Document data sources and models
Working closely with the Product Lead to establish a clear roadmap with transparent goals and priorities
Educate end-users to ensure solutions and insights are efficiently used
Guide and support other team members to follow defined standards, architecture and principles for high quality data development
Who are you?
To succeed in this role we believe that you have 5 years or more experience working hands-on in data engineering/data development roles. You are an expert in data modeling and data architecture – you can assess different approaches depending on the context and business needs. You are familiar with platforms and tools such as Snowflake, dbt, Dagster, Python, and SQL.
We are looking for a self-starter who takes ownership of their work. You can deliver good results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where you need to prioritize across multiple tasks. You thrive on establishing and documenting best practices and are setting a high standard for others to follow.
You are obsessed with end-users’ success and can communicate fluently with stakeholders in both Norwegian and English. Strong skills in both languages, written and spoken, are important, as they are used daily in our work. Prior experience in a lead or managerial role is beneficial. If you’re passionate about building a modern, future-proof data platform and want to shape how the bank extracts value from data, this is the role for you!
Our tech-stack
Even though technology alone does not make a company data- and insight-driven, we believe that a state-of-the-art data and analytics platform is a fundamental starting point. Therefore, over the past years, we have developed a brand-new data and analytics platform based on a modern technology stack consisting of Snowflake, dbt, and Dagster. We also use GitHub and GitHub Actions for version control and CI/CD, in addition to Terraform for managing our infrastructure.
There is also a dedicated data platform team responsible for the operation and further development of the platform itself. The purpose is to ensure that the data teams can focus as much as possible on value-creating work with data and insights.
