SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
Group Purchasing is responsible for selecting and approving suppliers as well as negotiating agreements for our requirements of both raw materials, packaging, and indirect materials for all Jotun’s factories globally. We are now looking for a new team member with good commercial understanding and motivation to fill the role as Group Purchasing Category Manager.Your role will be to make sure that all our factories’ requirements are covered, securing our main objectives, continuity of supply, competitive terms, value creation and sustainable sourcing for selected raw material categories/spend areas. You will do this by developing and implementing category strategies and action plans according to the Group Purchasing Category Management/Spend Area Concept to support both the short and long-term competitiveness of Jotun.
This position will be located at our headquarters in Sandefjord, Norway and report to the Group Purchasing Director – Global Categories.
Responsibilities:
Manage assigned raw material categories/spend areas by formulating and executing strategic and tactical work per the Group Purchasing Category/Spend Area Management - Concept to ensure an effective purchasing process and to deliver on the purchasing objectives.
Ensure all purchasing activities are conducted in line with the Jotun Purchasing Policy to safeguard the integrity of the function and contribute to a professional and responsible Jotun image in line with company strategy.
Negotiate with raw material and indirect material suppliers on a regular basis in line with the category/ spend area plans and the current market developments as identified through market Intelligence work to deliver effectively on the purchasing plans.
Establish and maintain good relationships with key suppliers in line with the category/spend area plans by keeping regular, close contact with relevant suppliers to ensure and achieve continuity of supplies, competitive terms, value creation and sustainable sourcing for Jotun.
Ensure timely implementation of Supplier Assessments in all regions ensuring compliance with Jotun’s Values, Jotun Business Principles, Jotun Anti-corruption Policy, UN Global Compact principles, as well as HSEQ and sustainability requirements.
Contribute to effective cross-functional collaboration with relevant stakeholders in Jotun to obtain innovative, cost-effective, and competitive solutions from suppliers.
Ensure alignment to category/spend area plans from local/regional purchasing departments by communicating agreements and following up on agreement compliance to deliver on the purchasing objectives and category targets.
Assist the Group Purchasing Director in providing the necessary tools, training, and support to the local purchasing organizations to continuously improve their efficiency and effectiveness.

Formal requirements
Preferably 5 years of experience in the purchasing field or relevant function
BSc. Degree or higher within relevant field
Commercial and business interests
A willingness to learn and motivation to continuously develop within the purchasing field,
Personal suitability for the position will be considered as important.
