We are seeking a committed and knowledgeable Senior Advisor Faith-Based Climate Action for a project-based position lasting 5 months, starting as soon as possible—preferably around 1 September 2025.
The position is based in the Program Quality Division within the Department for International Programs in Oslo. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of climate justice, development cooperation, and the transformative role of faith-based actors in addressing environmental challenges. You will have the opportunity to shape NCA’s faith-based approach to climate and environmental work, contributing to a globally connected organization with a strong commitment to values-driven development. This is a unique and meaningful short-term engagement for someone passionate about supporting local faith based partners in using religious texts to inspire environmental stewardship, advocacy and climate-responsible living.
- Review and assess existing materials developed by NCA and other actors on how faith-based organizations can use various religious texts in their work on climate and the environment
- Explore how these approaches can promote attitude change and strengthen faith-based advocacy, particularly in light of NCA’s upcoming global program period
- Identify relevant networks and potential strategic collaborators, and provide recommendations for further development of the thematic area
- Develop or adapt materials that can be used by NCA’s partners and country offices in their programmatic or advocacy work
- Provide guidance and support to NCA country offices to use the materials
- Higher education in climate/environmental studies, theology, development studies, religious studies, or related fields
- Experience in development cooperation and/or advocacy, preferably in collaboration with faith-based actors
- Familiarity with climate justice and the intersection of faith and environmental issues
- Experience with resource mapping, writing thematic guidance, or content development is an advantage
- Experience working with religious texts or messaging in a programmatic or advocacy context is an advantage
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken (French, Arabic or Norwegian is an asset)
