The Faculty of Technology, Art and Design (TKD) offers higher education and research and development (R&D) activities within technical subjects, arts and design. The Faculty has approximately 4.000 students and 400 staff members and is situated at Pilestredet Campus in downtown Oslo and at Kjeller Campus in Viken.
The Department of Computer Science offers three bachelor’s degree programmes, a master’s degree programme, and is part of a cross-departmental PhD program. Academic staff at the department are pursuing research in a wide range of areas including computer science, the natural sciences, and innovation and management. Both students and researchers are also involved in an increasing number of interdisciplinary initiatives across the university.
The Department of Computer Science has one 100% permanent position as Associate Professor in Networks and Security.
Your main duties and areas of responsibility will be to:
- teach and supervise at bachelor’s and master’s levels
- help develop the department’s study and degree programs
- perform academic administrative tasks
- be a driving force in the development of large-scale research projects and applications for external funding together with colleagues in the academic community
- take the initiative to and further develop research collaborations with national and international partners
- guide students, including Ph.D. candidates, in their research and professional growth
- developing and enhance curricula in networking, cloud computing, and cybersecurity
Qualification requirements
- doctoral degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Communication Technology, or a closely related field
- proven academic record in research activities with dissemination or publication in one or several of the following areas: Networking, Mobile network security, Threat Intelligence, IoT, 5G/6G, or AI cybersecurity
- cross disciplinary research experience between the fields mentioned above and other emerging technologies, such as AI
- educational pedagogical competence in accordance with OsloMet’s Guidelines for the assessment of educational competence at OsloMet
- written and oral proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, and English
Applicants who do not have adequate proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, shall be offered Norwegian courses, and must acquire Norwegian skills corresponding to at least level B2 within three years of appointment.
General criteria for appointments to academic positions are covered by the Regulations for appointment and promotion to academic posts.
Emphasis will be placed on
- teaching experience, skills, and enthusiasm for instructing and mentoring bachelor’s and master’s students
- flexibility in adapting teaching and research to meet departmental and OsloMet’s needs, including interdisciplinary collaboration
- demonstrated capacity to go for external research funding independently, and/or leading and participating in research initiatives, projects, and collaborations
- actively contributing to the continued development of high-quality education in the department such as course development activities
- capability to foster a supportive environment, develop research projects, and demonstrate innovation
- good collaboration and communication skills
- ability to share scientific knowledge and engage with the public through media, lectures, and community involvement
- strong written and spoken communication skills in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language

The position is paid in accordance with the Norwegian State main tariff agreements and OsloMet's salary policy in position code 1011 Associate professor NOK. 667 700 – 821 100. For particularly well-qualified applicants, a higher salary can be considered.
