Job Description

As society becomes increasingly dependent on data communications, the consequences of service outages and degradations become more severe. Technical failures, unplanned excessive load, design and implementation flaws in components, human error, and malicious intent all have the potential to interfere with critical applications that rely on the internet.

CRNA was established to address these problems. We combine world-class theoretical and empirical research on the robustness and security of ICT infrastructures with real-world critical applications that keep the society running. We collaborate closely with Oslo Metropolitan and other universities, as well as industry and public sector in Norway and abroad.

Our research is structured around two main pillars:

We operate a world-class laboratory and experimental facilities that encompass cellular network testbeds, IoT, satellite, and data center facilities.

CRNA is growing and looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow, full-time in a 3-year position.

Postdoctoral applicants must hold a PhD degree in computer science, telecommunications or electrical engineering at the start date of the position, and have a strong track record in scientific publication and dissemination.

Successful applicants must have

• Proven capability to conduct relevant, top-level scientific research,
• Excellent understanding of IP networking across various wired and wireless technologies and scenarios from host-internal communications to WAN and inter-domain networking,
• Excellent command of foundational and applied AI technology, from neural networks, distributed reinforcement learning to agentic AI and recent developments in this rapidly evolving field,
• Good personal properties and genuine willingness to collaborate within the team and externally, contributing to the future development of the CRNA.

Some activities of our research group may include security sensitive research. While not strictly required, eligibility for Norwegian security clearance is an advantage.

Simula Research Laboratory AS is a publicly owned research lab located in Oslo, Norway. Simula conducts research in the fields of scientific computing, software engineering, communication systems, machine learning and cybersecurity.
