We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Process Quality Control Manager to join our team at our headquarters in Bergen, Norway, reporting to SVP Manufacturing Europe.
The PQC Manager is responsible for ensuring that all processes within the battery module assembly line meet quality standards and comply with regulatory and customer requirements. This role involves managing in-line quality control activities, developing and optimizing inspection systems, leading root cause analyses, and coordinating cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.
The PQC Manager plays a key role in maintaining the quality, safety, and reliability of battery modules, supporting the company’s commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Control Strategy & Leadership
- Develop, implement, and manage in-line quality control procedures and inspection standards.
- Lead and manage a team of PQC engineers, inspectors, and technicians.
- Establish quality KPIs (e.g., FPY, yield rate, defect rates, etc.) and lead continuous monitoring and improvement efforts.
2. In-Line Quality Assurance
- Ensure in-process inspection and testing are effectively conducted at each stage of the battery module assembly.
- Identify process deviations and work with production and engineering to implement corrective actions immediately.
- Maintain real-time quality dashboards and reporting systems for factory leadership.
3. Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving
- Lead structured problem-solving efforts (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, 8D) for in-line quality issues.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, maintenance, and Process & Value Engineering team and others to resolve recurring quality problems.
4. Compliance & Auditing
- Ensure compliance with ISO9001, Class-societies and customer-specific quality requirements.
- Lead internal PQC audits and support external customer and certification audits.
- Document inspection results, CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions), and audit findings.
5. Process Improvement & Risk Management
- Use tools such as FMEA, SPC, MSA, and Control Plans to identify and mitigate process risks.
- Collaborate with engineering to implement process changes or equipment upgrades that improve quality.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) and production ramp-up activities from a quality standpoint.
6. Training & Team Development
- Train staff on quality inspection standards, SOPs, and problem-solving techniques.
- Foster a culture of quality ownership among line operators and support personnel.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field. Extensive relevant and practical experience may compensate for absence of degree.
- 5–8 years of experience in quality control/quality assurance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in battery assembly, electronics manufacturing, or automotive preferred.
- Strong knowledge of quality tools and standards (e.g., ISO9001).
- Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, SPC software, MES systems).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Skills:
- Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) is a plus.
- Familiarity with battery module technologies, such as cell stacking, welding, BMS integration.
- Hands-on experience with automated inspection equipment and defect analysis techniques.
