Who we are

Founded on the belief that a country’s natural resources belong to its citizens, the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) brings together governments, civil society and companies to improve natural resource governance. With over 50 member countries and 60 supporting companies, the EITI promotes transparency, accountability and informed policymaking in the extractive sector.

Behind the small but ambitious and impactful organisation is a diverse and dynamic team of experts, ready to welcome you and support your learning as you navigate the EITI Standard and its global implementation. Based in Oslo, Norway, the EITI International Secretariat comprises a collaborative and multilingual team of around 50 professionals who value growth and development. Whether over a shared meal or an informal discussion, we believe in building strong relationships that help us work effectively together and inspire trust among our stakeholders.

Who you are

Are you organised, adaptable and passionate about transparency in natural resources? Join the EITI Secretariat and help strengthen governance in the extractive sector globally.

We are looking for a Language and Coordination Officer to provide dedicated administrative and language support to the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) team. The role also contributes to regional projects focused on the systematic disclosure of extractive data. The successful candidate will help coordinate the team’s internal processes, enhance multilingual communication and support the LAC team’s engagement with cross-cutting priorities across the Secretariat.

If you thrive in a multicultural, fast-paced environment and enjoy improving systems and processes, this role offers a meaningful opportunity to make a difference.

Duties and Responsibilities
Support country work and project processes for the LAC team, including communication with stakeholders, event coordination, planning and monitoring of country missions and assisting LAC countries in preparing for the 2026 Global Conference.
Serve as the LAC team’s liaison on Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL), coordinating with other teams at the Secretariat on related tasks.
Support language-related activities for the LAC team, including quality assurance of translations between Spanish and English for documents related to the LAC region or the International Secretariat.
Liaise with relevant teams at the EITI International Secretariat on behalf of the LAC team on tasks related to the role.
Support the LAC team’s engagement with Board committee work, as well as with government, civil society and industry constituencies.
Qualifications and Experience
A degree in political science, economics, management, business administration, or a related field.
Minimum 1–3 years of experience in coordination work related to research, projects, or operations, preferably in an international NGO, donor-funded project, or the public sector.
Strong language skills in both Spanish and English.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Fluency in English and Spanish is required; proficiency in any other EITI language is an asset.
Personal Qualities

We believe an individual possessing the next qualities will be successful in this role:

Organised – Plans and prioritises effectively.
Collaborative – Works well with others.
Ethical – Acts with integrity and transparency.
Resilient – Stays focused under pressure.
Proactive – Takes initiative and drives action.
We Can Offer

This role is an important part of an organisation driving positive global change.

Located in central Oslo, The EITI International Secretariat offers hybrid work options and an above-market pension and insurance package. Read more about the benefits of joining our team here.

Om bedriften

The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is the global standard to promote the open and accountable management of oil, gas and mineral resources.

Guided by the belief that a country’s natural resources belong to its citizens, the EITI has established a global standard to promote the open and accountable management of oil, gas and mineral resources. The EITI Standard requires the disclosure of information along the extractive industry value chain from the point of extraction, to how revenues make their way through the government, and how they benefit the public. By doing so, the EITI seeks to strengthen public and corporate governance, promote understanding of natural resource management, and provide the data to inform reforms for greater transparency and accountability in the extractives sector. In each of the 55 implementing countries, the EITI is supported by a coalition of government, companies, and civil society.

The EITI is committed to achieving diversity in terms of gender, nationality, culture and educational background. The EITI is an equal opportunities employer.
